Are you an experienced Project Scheduler, Project Planner, or Planning Engineer with a background in complex engineering or manufacturing projects? We are supporting a leading engineering organisation in the search for a Project Scheduler to join their Project Management function, supporting the delivery of complex projects within a highly regulated defence manufacturing environment.

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of detailed project schedules, work closely with Programme Managers and teams across the business, and provide visibility of project progress, critical paths, dependencies, and potential delivery risks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project and programme schedules, accurately reflecting activities, durations, resources, dependencies, and key milestones.
• Work closely with Programme Managers and internal departments to understand project structures, sequencing, relationships, and delivery requirements.
• Establish and maintain baseline project schedules, ensuring appropriate configuration and change control.
• Regularly update schedules to reflect project progress, actual durations, changes, and revised sequencing.
• Monitor schedule performance and identify deviations, conflicts, constraints, and potential delays.
• Analyse critical paths and dependencies to highlight potential impacts on project delivery.
• Report schedule performance and key issues to Project and Programme Managers, supporting the identification of appropriate corrective actions.
• Integrate schedules across linked projects and programmes to provide a clear view of overall delivery requirements.
• Work collaboratively across engineering, manufacturing, procurement, project management, and other business functions to ensure schedules remain accurate and achievable.

Candidate Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Project Scheduler, Project Planner, Planning Engineer, Project Controls Specialist, or similar within a complex project environment.
• Proven experience developing, managing, and maintaining detailed project schedules.
• Strong understanding of project planning principles, including dependencies, milestones, critical paths, baselines, and schedule performance.
• Experience using project scheduling software, with Microsoft Project particularly advantageous.
• Ability to analyse project information and identify potential conflicts, constraints, delays, and delivery risks.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities and priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work with Programme Managers, senior stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with a logical and adaptable approach to changing project requirements.

Desirable Experience:

• Experience working within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Background in defence, aerospace, marine, automotive, heavy engineering, or another technically complex and highly regulated industry.
• Experience working across multi-disciplinary projects or integrated project teams.
• Formal project planning, project controls, or scheduling qualification such as PMI-SP or equivalent.
• Experience managing integrated or master project schedules.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering, project management, business, or related discipline.
