SEN Teacher

Location: Castle Bromwich

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join a specialist educational setting supporting children and young people with a wide range of complex learning needs. This SEN Teacher position involves working with pupils who have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), speech, language and communication needs, sensory processing differences, and associated social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

The successful SEN Teacher will play a vital role in providing a highly personalised and nurturing learning experience. Many pupils require structured routines, specialist communication approaches, sensory support, and carefully adapted teaching strategies to help them access learning, develop independence, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.

The Role

As an SEN Teacher, you will:

• Plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons tailored to meet a diverse range of learning needs.
• Develop and implement individual learning programmes and EHCP outcomes.
• Support pupils with autism, learning difficulties, communication needs, and sensory differences.
• Use specialist teaching approaches, visual supports, and alternative communication methods to enhance learning.
• Create a structured, predictable, and inclusive classroom environment where pupils feel safe and supported.
• Promote the development of independence, emotional regulation, social interaction skills, and self-confidence.
• Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, pastoral teams, and families to ensure the best possible outcomes for pupils.
• Adapt learning experiences to meet individual strengths, interests, and developmental needs.
• Encourage pupils to develop essential life skills alongside their academic progress.

What You’ll Need

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience working with pupils with SEND, particularly autism, SLD, MLD, and communication needs.
• A strong understanding of differentiated teaching and personalised learning approaches.
• Knowledge of sensory strategies and autism-friendly classroom practices.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach to supporting pupils with complex needs.
• A commitment to promoting inclusion, independence, and positive outcomes as an SEN Teacher.
