The Kingsbrook School require a specialist teacher as Lead Practitioner for the school’s Inclusion unit for children with Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, to join our leadership team to further support this essential work in our school.

The post is based at the Inclusion Unit (The ARC) at The Kingsbrook School, which is a specialist Inclusion Unit catering for young people with Education Health Care Plans and who have SEMH as their primary need. There are 25 students currently placed in The ARC in years 7-10, a further 7 will be placed next academic year until the provision reaches its maximum capacity of 32.

The lead practitioner for the ARC will drive operational and strategic development of the curriculum and teaching & learning in The ARC. They will work in collaboration with the assistant SENDCo for The ARC, to adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of students, support and train other teaching staff, teach high quality effective lessons, and monitor the progress and attainment of students in The ARC to ensure students access appropriate learning to achieve ambitious outcomes.

The Kingsbrook School requires its Lead Practitioner for The ARC to be

forward thinking, to set and drive the whole school culture and to work collaboratively with other schools and trust leaders and wider professionals. We are looking to appoint talented and inspirational specialist teacher who will work to continually transform the lives of students at TKS and other IAT schools, alongside our existing hard working and dedicated teams within our schools.

This is a post that is applicable to an experienced qualified teacher, from either a specialist trained, primary or secondary background, with some experience of teaching children with a range of special educational needs. A background in SEMH, Positive Behaviour Support, trauma and/or attachment informed approaches is desirable. The right candidate must have a strong presence as well as excellent behaviour management skills and the ability to build rapport and relationships with vulnerable children. You must be committed to student progress and be able to inspire those individuals to overcome barriers to their learning and have the relevant wider training and experience that demonstrates readiness for senior leadership.
