About the role
Work Pattern: 37 hours per week, 09:00–17:30, Hybrid – 2 days onsite in Walsall, including Tuesday
PAYE Pay Rate: £35.94 per hour
Main Purpose:
Manage major and complex planning applications, planning enforcement and development management matters. Provide planning advice, make delegated decisions, prepare Planning Committee reports and support the Development Management team.
Typical Day:
- Manage major and complex planning applications
- Carry out site visits and assessments
- Negotiate with developers and agents
- Prepare and present Planning Committee reports
- Handle planning enforcement matters
- Provide pre-application advice
- Liaise with Councillors and stakeholders
- Support and mentor planning officers
- Deal with planning appeals and Public Inquiries
Essential Requirements:
- Strong Development Management experience
- Experience with major/complex applications
- Knowledge of planning legislation and enforcement
- Planning Committee experience
- Strong stakeholder and negotiation skills
- Relevant planning degree/postgraduate qualification
- RTPI membership or working towards accreditation
- Own vehicle/car for site visits
