At Blessed William Howard Catholic High School, we are seeking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across our school. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people, helping them to overcome barriers to learning, achieve their potential and develop confidence and independence.

Working under the direction of teaching staff and the SEND team, you will provide support for students in lessons and around the school. You will help students access learning, develop literacy and numeracy skills, promote independence and contribute to their wellbeing and progress. The role includes supporting individuals and small groups, implementing support plans, monitoring progress and working collaboratively with teachers and families.

• Is passionate about supporting young people and helping them succeed.
• Has experience of supporting children's learning in a school environment.
• Has good literacy and numeracy skills, including GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English and Mathematics (evidence must be provided)
• Can build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
• Works effectively as part of a team whilst showing initiative and adaptability.
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Has an understanding of SEND and how to support students with additional needs.
• Demonstrates strong safeguarding values and a commitment to promoting the welfare of children and young people.
