Teacher of Mathematics

The newly appointed candidate will be working in a committed, successful and experienced team which regularly achieves strong academic success. The department consists of a large team of specialist teachers led by a very supportive Head of Department. The team have enjoyed strong academic success over a prolonged period of time. At GCSE in 2026 students over 40% of students achieved grades 7 to 9, whilst at post 16, 68% of A Level Maths grades were A*-B and for Further Maths, this was 94%. Teachers at the school enjoy working and interacting with our students. They are mature, highly motivated and inquisitive making teaching a stimulating and rewarding experience. Further Mathematics is offered at both GCSE and A Level and are popular options. The Mathematics Department is located in its own suite of modern classrooms. Recently, we have invested heavily in our IT facilities with all teachers benefitting from a modern SMART board and a personal laptop. We have invested in various software packages including subscriptions to 'MathsWatch', Dr Frost, GoTeachMaths and MathsBox. At GCSEand A Level we follow the Edexcel course. The Maths team are passionate practitioners and enhance the curriculum through a number of extra-curricular activities including fieldtrips and attending guest lectures. We have an impressive record of success in national competitions achieving gold awards in the Maths Olympiad and support the Primary Maths School challenge. This post would suit an an experienced teacher who is looking to develop their skills in a new setting. The successful candidate will need to be able to teach across all age ranges and abilities. The ability to teach another subject would be desirable but not essential. Areas of Responsibility We are looking for candidates with a strong background and degree in Maths. The ability to teach a second subject is desirable although this is not typically required. Candidates will teach students from Years 7-13 with students taught in ability groups from Year 7. Candidates will also have an eagerness to contribute towards our extra-curricular programme, leading trips and enrichment. Candidates will be enthusiastic about sharing new ideas and working holistically with the rest of the team. The successful candidate is expected to be a reflective practitioner, confident and with a commitment to building strong relationships with our staff and students. Candidates can expect to support students in the role of Form Tutor.
