About the Role
Joneshouse Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our client for a compassionate and motivated Senior Children’s Residential Support Worker to join a children’s residential home in Albrighton.
The service supports young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, providing a safe, nurturing and structured environment where they can feel secure, develop confidence and work towards positive outcomes.
As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will play an important role in the day-to-day lives of the young people while also providing leadership and support to colleagues on shift.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality day-to-day care and support to children and young people with SEMH needs.
- Build positive, trusting and professional relationships with young people.
- Support young people with their emotional, social and behavioural development.
- Encourage independence, confidence and the development of essential life skills.
- Support young people with daily routines, activities and community engagement.
- Lead shifts and help ensure the home operates safely and effectively.
- Provide guidance and support to colleagues while on shift.
- Deputise for Team Leaders when required.
- Promote a safe, nurturing and consistent environment within the home.
- Support the implementation of individual care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support strategies.
- Respond appropriately and constructively to challenging situations.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to effective handovers.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and children’s home standards are followed.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals to promote positive outcomes for young people.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
- The ability to build positive and appropriate relationships with young people.
- A compassionate, patient and empathetic approach.
- The emotional resilience to manage challenging situations constructively.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- A positive and proactive approach to supporting colleagues and young people.
- The confidence to provide leadership and guidance while on shift.
- A full UK driving licence held for at least 12 months.
Previous residential childcare experience would be beneficial; however, applicants with the right values, attitude and transferable skills may also be considered.
Qualifications
A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent is desirable.
Candidates who do not already hold the qualification may be supported by our client to complete the required Level 3 qualification as part of their professional development.
