GOODS INWARDS & DESPATCH OPERATIVE (NOONS)

Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire Dorchester Search & Selection The role: We are currently looking for a Goods Inwards & Despatch operative to join the team. The successful candidate will be hard working, reliable, computer literate and a positive team player. They should be friendly, welcoming and professional as they will be part of a busy department where everyone needs to chip in to get the job done. In addition, it is essential that the person undertaking this role is organised, able to multitask, work flexibly and be able to work within what can be, at times, a busy and pressured environment. You will need to be thorough and pay attention to detail at all times, as many of the products handled through this area are very valuable and critical for the delivery of our customer contracts. It is also essential that your health and safety approach is impeccable to assure the safety of yourself, colleagues in the company and frequent visitors to the area such as delivery drivers. Standard working hours are: * 14:00 – 21:30 (Monday to Thursday) & 14:00 – 20:30 (Friday). * A degree of flexibility over working hours will be required to ensure that deadlines are met,including occasional overtime. Key responsibilities: * Loading / unloading transport * Checking and counting inbound and outbound goods * Distribution of goods to internal departments * Driving company vehicles and counterbalance forklift trucks, typically 3.5T – 9.0T, including on the roads * Operating heavy duty overhead cranes, including lifting and turning complex items * Booking external transport * Routine maintenance of equipment * Manual handling including lifting and carrying of boxes, equipment and other items * Entering data accurately onto the company computer system * Keeping accurate records which are well organised and filed systematically Qualifications, experience & character: * Full clean UK drivers license * Good IT skills, including MS Word, Excel & Outlook and ERP systems * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Good time management skills * Able to maintain a polite and professional manner even in pressured situations * Confident, friendly and likeable * Hardworking and willing to seek out and take on additional work to support colleagues * There is a potential future requirement to obtain and maintain UK national security clearance, which will be arranged by the company £15.60 includes a 20% shift allowance for the noon shift.
