Senior Design Lead

The studio is a small- to mid-sized, AI-native product and creative studio, with headquarters in London and remote-first working. It’s honest about its ambition: to be the best web design studio in the world.

Now shifting deliberately to become its clients’ creative team: brand, web, motion, AI video. This hire shapes that direction. When most senior design roles ask you to choose between leading the team or being in the work, this one is built to protect both: the split is fixed at roughly 40% hands-on client design, 60% leading.

The Role
You own the quality of everything the design team ships: you’ll review every design that leaves the studio, and set the standard it’s held to. There is no existing design language. No entrenched process. No committee. You build the visual system from scratch – composition, typography, colour, motif, pattern – and turn it into something non-designers can ship inside without design becoming a bottleneck. 

You’ll take dated client brands and level them up dramatically inside enterprise-scale sites – multi-hundred-page builds with real IA and CMS structure. You’ll also define the Figma-to-Framer handover, so fidelity survives the build.

Finally, you’ll mentor the team and help set the hiring bar as the studio adds visual, web and motion designers over the coming year.

The Person
With 8+ years in design, ideally built inside a small, fast website or digital agency rather than a large consultancy, you’re visual-first and exceptional at what you do. 

You’ve contributed to award-winning work, led design on enterprise sites, and built review processes and systems that outlived you.  You use AI in your actual practice, but you’re not loyal to any single tool, and you want to shape creative direction.
