Lawrence Sheriff School is a forward looking boys’ grammar school of approximately 1200 students, around 450 of whom are in our coeducational sixth form. As a Teaching School Hub, we play a significant role in initial teacher training and continuous professional development across the region. Our Teaching School Hub status also enables us to offer all staff varied and interesting opportunities to enhance their practice.

We are looking to appoint an experienced Teaching Assistant to support students with SEND, for example Autism and SEMH in and out of a classroom, in order to facilitate their access to the curriculum and maximise their independence.

The successful applicant will be based in the Inclusion Department as well as a classroom and must have the ability to establish effective relationships with young people and teaching staff.

Being an effective communicator is critical due to the needs of students and therefore excellent written and spoken English is essential. You must be highly organised, with good time management skills and be IT literate.

Applicants must be able to deal sensitively with matters of confidence whilst following the School Child Protection policy, for which training will be given.
