Birmingham, West Midlands Prospero Teaching Hair, Beauty & Hospitality Vocation Teacher/ Instructor (SEMH Post) Where: Solihull Pay: £135.89- 199.89 per day Who: QTS/ Non-QTS applicants Prospero Teaching is recruiting for a hair, beauty and hospitality Teacher to join an expanding alternative provision, working with secondary to post-16 students with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs. This is a teaching role focused on delivering a practical, hands-on vocational curriculum to small groups of learners who may have experienced disruption to their education. The provision offers a structured, supportive environment where consistency, relationships, and clear routes into employment are paramount. Students are supported to re-engage with learning, develop practical skills, and work towards City & Guilds/ Functional skills qualifications (Entry Level 3-Level 2). Teaching takes place in groups of up to six learners, with a strong focus on vocational learning, confidence-building, and employability skills. You will deliver engaging sessions across a range of trades including braiding hair, hair extensions , hair dying, hair styling, hospitality and Make up artistry. A calm, flexible, and resilient approach is essential, alongside effective behaviour management using trauma-informed strategies. The role also involves supporting students pastoral needs, working closely with support staff, contributing to EHCP targets, and maintaining a safe, well-organised workshop environment with high standards of health and safety. CONTRACT DETAILS: · Position: Vocations Teacher (Hair, Beauty & Hospitality) · Setting: Alternative / Specialist Provision · Start date: October 2026 (possibly sooner) · Duration / Likely Duration: Long-term · Contract type: Temp-to-Perm · Full time/part time: Full-Time · Pay: From GBP148.39- 205.12 per day (depending on experience and quals) · Working hours: 08.30am-16.00pm EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS: · Experience working with young people with SEND/SEMH needs · Strong behaviour management and deskills · Practical experience in hair beauty and hotel trades · Ability to deliver engaging small-group sessions · Confidence leading sessions alongside and directing support staff Desirable: · Teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent) · Experience delivering City & Guilds or vocational qualifications · Assessing / IQA qualifications · Understanding of trauma informed school · Knowledge of Functional Skills & City & Guilds curriculum · Non-QTS will be considered for this opportunity TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST: · Hold Right to Work in the UK · Hold an enhanced Child/ Adult Barred List DBS registered with the update service, or be willing to apply · Provide a minimum of two professional, child-related references OTHER: If you would like to be considered for this role, please apply with an up-to-date CV.
