Service Controller – Heavy Plant

Location: Darlington / North East
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 DOE

Elite Consultancy Network are currently recruiting on behalf of an established construction equipment and heavy plant business who are looking to appoint an experienced Service Controller to join their North East operation.

This is a key position within the aftersales team, responsible for coordinating a busy field service operation and ensuring engineers, customers, parts and ongoing jobs are managed effectively.

You do not necessarily need to have started your career as an Engineer, although a technical background would be advantageous. The key requirement is previous experience within a service-led engineering, machinery or vehicle environment, with a strong understanding of coordinating engineers and managing customer requirements.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

• Planning and scheduling Field Service Engineers across the region 
  
  
• Managing breakdowns, planned servicing, repairs and maintenance work 
  
  
• Prioritising workloads based on urgency, location and customer requirements 
  
  
• Keeping customers updated throughout the repair/service process 
  
  
• Raising and progressing jobs and work orders 
  
  
• Liaising with engineers regarding faults, additional work and follow-up requirements 
  
  
• Working closely with Parts to ensure components are available when required 
  
  
• Supporting quotations, warranty administration and service invoicing 
  
  
• Monitoring outstanding jobs and helping minimise customer downtime 
  
  
• Maintaining accurate records within the service management system 
  
  

The Candidate

We are keen to speak with candidates who have previously worked as a:

Service Controller, Service Coordinator, Service Planner, Workshop Controller, Field Service Coordinator, After Sales Coordinator or similar.

Experience within any of the following would be particularly relevant:

Heavy Plant | Construction Equipment | Plant Hire | Agricultural Machinery | Material Handling | Forklifts | Powered Access | HGV / Commercial Vehicles

You should have strong organisational skills, be comfortable managing changing priorities and have confidence communicating with both customers and engineers.

Package

• £35,000 – £45,000 basic salary DOE 
  
  
• Potential flexibility towards £45,000 for an exceptional candidate
