Salary: £26,805 – £27,464 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Full-Time
Additional: Participation in an out-of-hours on-call rota
About the Role
Joneshouse Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our client for a compassionate and experienced Domestic Abuse Outreach Project Worker to support adults affected by domestic abuse across Southampton.
This is a community-based role providing practical and emotional support to individuals experiencing or recovering from domestic abuse. You will work closely with clients to improve their safety, wellbeing and independence through personalised support, advocacy and effective risk management.
The role will also involve supporting individuals moving on from refuge accommodation, helping them access appropriate services and rebuild their lives safely and independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one practical and emotional support to adults affected by domestic abuse.
- Manage an allocated caseload and provide support tailored to individual needs.
- Complete risk assessments, safety plans and individual support plans.
- Advocate on behalf of clients with housing, social care, health services, police, courts and other agencies.
- Support individuals to access safe accommodation, benefits, legal remedies and specialist services.
- Assist clients transitioning from refuge accommodation into independent living.
- Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
- Provide family-focused support where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with external agencies and professionals.
- Attend multi-agency meetings, including MARAC, where required.
- Maintain accurate and confidential case records and prepare reports.
- Promote equality, diversity and inclusive practice.
- Contribute to partnership working, awareness raising and service development.
- Participate in training, supervision and ongoing professional development.
- Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota, responding to emergency referrals and providing telephone advice and support when required.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should have:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, or the ability to work at this level.
- Experience supporting vulnerable adults within a frontline support environment.
- Experience completing risk assessments, safety planning and advocacy work.
- A good understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on individuals and families.
- Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and report-writing skills.
- The ability to manage and prioritise a varied caseload.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
- Confidence using IT systems and electronic case management databases.
- A full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle and appropriate business insurance.
Desirable
- Experience working within a multi-agency environment.
- Knowledge of housing, welfare benefits and criminal and civil justice processes.
- Experience facilitating groups or delivering awareness sessions.
