The Role

History Teacher

Main to Upper Pay Range £32,916 – £51,048 (Pay Award Pending)

Location: Dormston School, Mill Bank, Dudley, West Midlands, DY3 1SN

If you are looking to join a strong, collegiate team who support and challenge each other in a school that welcomes ideas to further support and engage our students, we would like to hear from you.

At Dormston School, we believe that History is an essential subject for the development of our young adults. History enables us to answer important questions such as ‘Where do I come from?’, ‘How did history lead us to here?’, and ‘Where do we go from here?’. As a department we are passionate about the historical research we do and hope to provide an exciting, innovative and challenging curriculum so that all students can achieve their academic potential, develop a sense of humanity and foster a life-long love of history.

Throughout their history lessons students will build their historical knowledge, develop key writing skills, and analyse historical scholarship and sources in order to equip them with understandings about how the past is constructed and the workings of the modern world.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a candidate who has the ability to challenge, motivate and enthuse students to be part of something special and make a huge contribution in our school, working alongside a strong team of dedicated Historians.

It really is worth seeing Dormston at its best during the working day and visits are warmly welcomed. Please contact Mrs Otton, Head Teacher’s PA if you would like to arrange a visit or for an informal discussion on [phone removed].

Closing date: Friday 9 October 2026 at midnight.

Start Date: 1 January 2027 or sooner.

The Dormston School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will subject to medical clearance, qualification checks and an enhanced DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
