Fitter’s Mate

DC Personnel are looking for a Fitter’s Mate for a well-established signage manufacturing and installation company based in Leicester.

Location: Leicester

Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum DOE

Hours: Monday – Friday, approximately 40 hours per week. Day shifts with flexibility required for occasional early starts, late finishes and overnight stays.

About the Role:

We are seeking a reliable, hardworking and practical Fitter’s Mate to join an established installation team on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will support experienced Head Fitters and installation teams with the preparation, assembly and installation of a wide range of commercial signage.

This is a great opportunity to join a growing company, with full training and ongoing development available. Previous signage installation experience is preferred but not essential, and the role would suit someone with a practical background in construction, engineering, fabrication, manufacturing, fitting or another hands-on environment.

Nationwide travel is required, with regular overnight stays depending on installation requirements. A company van and fuel card will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist Head Fitters and installation teams with the installation of internal and external commercial signage
• Assist with the installation of built-up letters, illuminated signage and LED signage
• Load, unload and safely transport signage, materials, tools and equipment
• Prepare materials, tools and equipment before attending installation sites
• Assist with site preparation, positioning, assembly, fixing and fitting of signage
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
• Follow installation drawings, basic plans and fitting instructions
• Support installers with working at height and other site-based activities where appropriately trained
• Assist with illuminated signage and LED installation work as directed by qualified or experienced personnel
• Maintain tools, equipment and vehicles in a clean, organised and serviceable condition
• Carry out vehicle stock checks and ensure the correct equipment is available for each installation
• Assist with general workshop duties and preparation work when required
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
• Follow company and site-specific health and safety procedures
• Work efficiently as part of a team to meet installation deadlines and client requirements
• Represent the company professionally when working at customer premises
• Take pride in completing all work safely, accurately and to a high standard

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a practical environment such as construction, engineering, fabrication, manufacturing, fitting or similar
• Practical and hands-on approach to work
• Experience using hand and power tools
• Ability to follow basic drawings, plans and installation instructions
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking
• Good attention to detail and pride in your work
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Full UK driving licence
• Willingness to travel to customer sites across the UK and stay away from home when required

Desirable Experience:

• Previous experience with commercial signage and built-up letters
• Experience assisting with illuminated and LED signage
• CSCS Card
• IPAF certification
• PASMA certification
• Experience working at height
• Experience in construction, fabrication, engineering or workshop-based fitting
• Experience working on customer or commercial sites
