We are currently recruiting Family Help Team Leaders to join our dedicated Family Help Service. 1 x 12-month fixed-term, 37 hours1  x permanent, 18.5 hoursPlease indicate clearly within your application which opportunity you would like to be considered for.

About the team

Our Family Help Teams bring together professionals from different disciplines to provide coordinated and effective support to children and their families. Working collaboratively with Family Help Team Managers, other Family Help Leaders, Family Hubs, partner agencies and Intensive Intervention Teams, the service aims to ensure that children and families receive the right support at the right time.

As part of the multidisciplinary management team, you will help create a consistent, supportive and evidence-informed approach across the service. You will build effective relationships with internal and external partners and promote an integrated approach to working with children, young people and their families. 

About the role

As a Family Help Team Leader, you will provide operational oversight and quality assurance of Family Help practice within an area-based team. You will support workers to deliver high-quality, timely and evidence-informed interventions that reflect Gloucestershire’s practice model.

You will directly supervise colleagues delivering support under the Targeted Early Help and Child in Need frameworks. This will include providing high-quality caseload and reflective supervision, maintaining oversight of assessment and intervention work, supporting effective resource allocation and ensuring that practice complies with legislation, statutory guidance and GCC policies. 

You will also:

• support the operational delivery of the Family Help Team;
• develop and motivate multidisciplinary staff;
• promote consistent, high-quality Family Help practice;
• contribute to service objectives, standards and improvement activity;
• build effective multi-agency partnerships;
• make evidence-based decisions concerning requests for support and resource allocation;
• use team-level information to help services respond to local need; and
• contribute to recruitment, employee development and effective management of resources.

About you

You will have extensive experience of working with vulnerable children, young people and their families within a health, education, early years or social care environment. You will be confident providing high-quality case supervision, managing and assuring the quality of casework, chairing complex meetings and working effectively across organisational and professional boundaries.

You will bring:

• a degree-level qualification in a recognised, relevant field;
• strong knowledge of legislation relating to children, young people and families;
• experience of managing risk and vulnerability;
• excellent leadership, communication, negotiation and influencing skills;
• the ability to develop positive relationships with colleagues and partner organisations;
• experience of managing competing priorities in a changing environment;
• a commitment to equality, diversity and evidence-informed practice; and
• a commitment to your own development and the professional development of your team.

You will also need to be able to travel throughout Gloucestershire. The role may occasionally require working outside normal office hours, including providing management cover for out-of-hours services.
