About the role
Senior Electronics Engineer - Permanent - Hampshire (hybrid/on-site)
A Hampshire-based aerospace business is looking for a Senior Electronics Engineer to lead hands-on design and development of avionics electronics for an unmanned aircraft platform. You'll own designs from first principles through prototype build, qualification, and support into production - working closely with systems, software, mechanical and manufacturing teams.
What you'll be doing
- Design & develop avionics electronics (analog, digital and power) for aerospace hardware
- Take designs from concept to product: robust, scalable, mass-producible and cost-optimised
- Support qualification / certification activities to standards such as DO-160 / DO-254 and associated test regimes
- Work with compliance/regulatory needs (including SORA) and environmental qualification (e.g. IP68 style requirements)
- Support integration, field trials and flight test activities (UAVs and subsystem prototypes)
- Partner with manufacturing on production support, troubleshooting and continuous improvement
- Contribute to R&D workstreams advancing platform capability
What they're looking for
- Degree: 2:1 or above in a STEM discipline
- Strong practical experience across electronics design, prototyping, and productisation
- Experience in some/all of:
- SPICE modelling / simulation
- Component selection + schematic capture
- Multi-layer PCB design for high-reliability applications
- EMC/EMI-aware design techniques
- Altium Designer (preferred, not essential)
- Useful / nice-to-have:
- Embedded C/C++ (ideally STM32 or similar)
- Python (or scripting) for tooling, test, automation
- Hands-on skills: soldering, cable assembly, prototype bring-up
- UAV / flight-test exposure

- Clear communicator with good documentation and stakeholder management
- Proactive, organised, happy to lead multidisciplinary activity
- Interest in aviation/autonomy and advanced aerospace tech
