The Opportunity

We are supporting an NHS Trust in the South West of England with the appointment of a Locum Consultant in General Medicine to join an established service.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Consultant to provide high-quality clinical care within a busy General Medicine department, working closely with colleagues across the wider multidisciplinary team.

• Working Pattern: Monday–Friday (0900–1700)

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Providing Consultant-level assessment, diagnosis and management of General Medicine patients
• Delivering high-quality clinical care across the General Medicine service
• Managing a broad range of acute and complex medical presentations
• Providing senior clinical decision-making and advice
• Working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team
• Supporting and supervising junior medical staff
• Participating in relevant ward, clinic and departmental activities
• Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Contributing to clinical governance, audit and quality improvement activities
• Ensuring a patient-centred approach to care at all times

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

• GMC registration with a licence to practise
• Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in General (Internal) Medicine or relevant experience for a locum appointment
• Previous NHS Consultant-level experience in General Medicine
• Broad experience managing acute and general medical patients
• Strong clinical decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and multidisciplinary working skills
• Commitment to high standards of patient care and clinical governance

Desirable Requirements

• Previous experience within a busy NHS General Medicine department
• Experience managing complex medical presentations
• Experience in acute medical care
• Teaching and supervision experience
• Experience contributing to audit, governance and quality improvement
