About the role

Are you passionate about helping young people thrive?

KGA Brune Park is looking for a caring, patient and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our team and make a real difference to the lives of our pupils.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting pupils with their learning, wellbeing and inclusion, helping them to develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning.

Working alongside teaching staff and the SEND team, you will provide support to individual pupils and small groups, helping them to access lessons, understand instructions, develop their skills and make progress.

About the role

You will:

  • Support pupils with SEND, including pupils with an EHCP, across the four areas of need.
  • Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning and deliver agreed interventions.
  • Support pupils in mainstream lessons and adapted curriculum provision.
  • Help pupils to organise themselves and access learning materials and resources.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive attitudes to learning.
  • Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviour using agreed strategies.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with pupils.
  • Help maintain a calm, safe and purposeful learning environment.
  • Support agreed break, lunchtime and transition arrangements.
  • Observe and report concerns relating to pupil progress, behaviour or wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the SEND team, parents/carers and other professionals.
  • Contribute to meetings, EHCP annual reviews and intervention reviews where required.
  • Support examination access arrangements following appropriate training.
  • Participate in training and professional development.
About you

We are looking for someone who is calm, patient, reliable and flexible, with a genuine commitment to supporting children and young people.

You will have:

  • Experience of working with children or young people.
  • GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent.
  • An understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and inclusive practice.
  • The ability to support learning under the direction of teaching staff.
  • Good communication, organisation and basic IT skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to pupil wellbeing, inclusion and developing independence.
  • A commitment to equality of opportunity and safeguarding.

Experience of supporting pupils with SEND, either individually or in small groups, would be desirable, as would a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant training in learning, communication or social and emotional interventions.

Why join us?

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to make a meaningful contribution to pupils' education and wider wellbeing. You will work as part of a supportive team, with opportunities to develop your skills through training, professional development and experience within the SEND environment.

Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to help young people access learning, overcome barriers and become more confident and independent learners.

If you are enthusiastic about making a difference and believe you have the patience, compassion and commitment needed to support our pupils, we would love to hear from you.
