Principal Civil Engineer

Our client is seeking an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to join its growing Birmingham team on a permanent basis. The role will support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of public sector highways and infrastructure projects, working with local authorities and other public sector clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and delivery of highways and infrastructure projects
• Manage project programmes, budgets and technical outputs
• Liaise directly with clients, stakeholders and local authorities
• Undertake and review highways, drainage and infrastructure designs
• Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with relevant standards and industry guidance
• Mentor and develop engineers and technicians
• Support bids, fee proposals and framework commissions

Job Requirements:

• Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline
• Experience delivering highways and infrastructure projects within a consultancy environment
• Strong understanding of highways design standards, including DMRB, Manual for Streets and local authority requirements
• Experience managing project teams and client relationships
• Proficiency with industry-standard civil engineering design software
• Chartered Engineer status, or progress towards professional chartership, would be advantageous
• Strong communication, technical leadership and project management skills
