The Opportunity

We are supporting an NHS Trust in the East of England with the appointment of a Locum Consultant in Plastic Surgery to join an established service. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Consultant seeking a locum position within a busy Plastic Surgery department.

The successful candidate will participate in the full rota, inclusive of on-call commitments, providing Consultant-level clinical care and working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Providing Consultant-level assessment, diagnosis and management of Plastic Surgery patients
• Delivering high-quality clinical care across the Plastic Surgery service
• Participating in the full rota, including on-call commitments
• Managing elective and emergency Plastic Surgery presentations
• Providing senior clinical decision-making and advice
• Working closely with Consultants, junior doctors and the wider multidisciplinary team
• Supporting the management of acute and complex cases
• Participating in relevant clinics, theatre activity and other departmental duties as required
• Supervising and supporting junior medical staff
• Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Participating in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement activities
• Ensuring a patient-centred approach to care at all times

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

• GMC registration with a licence to practise
• Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Plastic Surgery or relevant experience for a locum appointment
• Previous NHS Consultant-level experience in Plastic Surgery
• Broad clinical experience within Plastic Surgery
• Experience managing emergency and complex Plastic Surgery cases
• Ability to participate in a full rota including on-call commitments
• Strong communication and multidisciplinary working skills
• Commitment to high standards of patient care and clinical governance

Desirable Requirements

• Experience within a busy NHS Plastic Surgery service
• Broad experience across elective and emergency Plastic Surgery
• Experience in Plastic Surgery clinics and theatre
• Teaching and supervision experience
• Experience contributing to audit, governance and quality improvement
