As part of our dedicated welfare team, you will play a vital role in supporting the health, wellbeing and safety of our pupils, staff and wider school community.
The ideal candidate should:
- Hold a current First Aid qualification or be willing to undertake appropriate training.
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Be caring, empathetic and approachable while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Remain calm and effective when dealing with illness, injury or emergencies.
- Be able to work independently, use their initiative and contribute effectively as part of a team.
- Have strong organisational, administrative and record-keeping skills.
- Be confident using digital systems or willing to learn.
- Be flexible and willing to undertake a range of medical and welfare duties.
- Understand the importance of confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately.
- Be able to meet the practical requirements of the role, with reasonable adjustments made where appropriate.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing first aid to pupils, staff and visitors, including responding appropriately to medical emergencies.
- Supervising and managing the welfare room, caring for sick, injured or distressed pupils.
- Reporting medical incidents and accidents on Medical Tracker.
- Maintaining accurate records of accidents, incidents, medicines administered and medical visits.
- Managing pupil medical information, care plans and medical consent documentation.
- Liaising with parents, health professionals and school staff regarding medical and welfare matters.
- Coordinating immunisation, vaccination and health check programmes.
- Monitoring and managing pupil medication, including inhalers, EpiPens and expiry dates.
- Maintaining First Aid supplies, medical equipment and school First Aid kits.
- Supporting school trips through the preparation of medical information and First Aid resources.
- Recognising and reporting safeguarding concerns promptly, in accordance with the school’s safeguarding procedures.
- Supporting the school office and reception team as required.

The post involves working with children and therefore, if successful, you will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
