About the role

Job Title: Teaching Assistant – Level 1 

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £26,798 - £29,208 (CLF Grade B) based on full time hours, all year round.  

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract until 31 August 2027, subject to external funding 

Hours - 

Role 1: 9 hours per week, Term Time Only plus INSET days, providing 1:1 SEND support in Pre-School 

Actual Annual Salary: £5,581 - £6,083 based on hours and weeks worked 

Role 2: 27 hours per week, Term Time Only plus INSET days, providing 1:1 SEND support 

Actual Annual Salary: £16,745 - £18,251 based on hours and weeks worked

We are looking for two passionate and inspiring Teaching Assistants - Level 1 to join our supportive and talented team at Herons' Moor Academy in Weston-super-Mare. We are looking for professional and ambitious people with a genuine passion for supporting children and helping to transform their learning.

We are looking for two Teaching Assistants - Level 1 to support the educational, personal and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of relevant colleagues, including class teachers and the SENCo. 

You will use appropriate strategies and techniques to help pupils access the curriculum, engage positively with their learning and achieve their full potential. You will support the delivery of planned learning activities and teaching programmes, adapting activities in response to pupils' individual needs and progress. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to make a positive and measurable contribution to pupils' attainment, as well as their social and emotional wellbeing.  

About you 

You will: 

  • Be committed to supporting the academy's high expectations and helping pupils achieve their full potential. 
  • Have an understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities and how a Teaching Assistant supports pupils in their learning. 
  • Be able to engage pupils effectively and positively manage behaviour on a one-to-one or small-group basis. 
  • Have strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to demonstrate empathy, patience and active listening. 
  • Have good planning and organisational skills, particularly when supporting learning activities and preparing resources. 
  • Be committed to inclusion and creating an environment where every child feels supported, valued and able to succeed. 
  • Be reflective, open to feedback and committed to your own ongoing professional development. 
  • Be willing to undertake relevant training and qualifications to support your development within the role. 
  • Be enthusiastic about contributing to the wider life and success of Herons' Moor Academy and its community.
