Lead Software Engineer

With this role you'll be joining a 180-strong engineering function sitting at the intersection of AI and one of the industries generative AI is set to transform most: services. The platform supports over 2,500 tax and legal professionals and thousands of clients, delivering everything from routine automated advice to complex, high-stakes decisions. The roleA hands-on Lead Software Engineer to lead a squad of software and QA engineers building products used by professionals and clients alike. You'll partner with a Product Owner who owns prioritisation, freeing you to focus on technical leadership and building world-class solutions. The role includes line management of around four developers.What you'll bringHands-on experience designing, specifying and building software end to endThe ability to clearly articulate how generative AI can solve document management, workflow automation and knowledge management problemsA track record of leading and mentoring engineersStrong experience in a modern object-oriented language (C# or Java)Deep knowledge of software design patterns, clean code and clean architectureExperience building REST APIs and working with messaging systemsConfidence defining data models and working with databasesExperience shipping user-facing web applicationsA collaborative, Agile mindset and a passion for best practiceWhat you'll be doingWorking in a lean Agile team using a scaled Scrum frameworkBuilding back-end services in C#/ASP.NET Core, with front-end work in TypeScript/React, ASP.NET MVC or BlazorBuilding cloud-first applications with strong unit test coverage, continuous delivery and 100% infrastructure-as-codeContainerising and deploying applications via Azure Kubernetes ServiceWorking with Entity Framework code-first data against Azure SQL or NoSQL databasesDesigning resilient microservices integrated via a cloud message busUpholding secure coding and infrastructure standardsLevelling up your own skills and sharing knowledge across the teamBuilding reusable components other teams can build onIf you feel this role is a fit, or know anybody that would be interested in exploring this opportunity feel free to reach out!
