About the role
Teaching Assistant – Walsall
Zest Education is recruiting a committed Teaching Assistant to support a very large, well‑established secondary school in Walsall. This role begins on a day‑to‑day supply basis, with the strong possibility of progressing into a long‑term position for the right person. The position starts in October 2026 and will be ongoing.
Role Overview
Working Monday to Friday, 8.30am–3.30pm, you’ll support students across KS3 and KS4, helping them engage positively with learning and make consistent progress. The school is fast‑paced, diverse and highly supportive, offering an excellent environment for someone who thrives in busy settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Support classroom learning by working with individuals and small groups
- Assist with behaviour management to maintain a calm and productive environment
- Help students with classwork, organisation and confidence
- Provide support for pupils with additional needs where required
- Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with young people (school‑based experience preferred but not essential)
- A patient, proactive and supportive approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly
- Reliability, professionalism and confidence working in a busy secondary environment
- A genuine interest in helping students succeed
