We are currently recruiting for a Full-Time SEND Teaching Assistant in Hoyland, Barnsley, to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within a local school setting.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND Support Worker or Learning Support Assistant with a genuine passion for supporting children and helping them achieve their full potential.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have previous experience supporting children or adults with SEND, alongside experience working within an EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) environment.

SEND Teaching Assistant – The RoleAs a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to provide high-quality support to children with a range of additional needs.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEND
• Supporting children’s learning, development and engagement
• Helping pupils access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities
• Supporting children’s communication, social and emotional development
• Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging independence
• Working closely with teachers and other school staff
• Creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment
• Supporting pupils within an EYFS setting where required

Requirements
To be considered for this SEND Teaching Assistant job in Hoyland, you will need:

1. Previous experience working within EYFS is essential
2. Previous experience supporting children or adults with SEND
3. An Enhanced DBS for the Child Workforce on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for a new Enhanced DBS
4. Safeguarding Level 1 minimum, or willingness to complete a Safeguarding course
5. A genuine passion for supporting children in their early years
6. Strong communication and teamwork skills
7. A reliable, professional and committed approach
8. The ability to work effectively as part of a school team
9. Patience, empathy and a positive approach to supporting children with additional needs
