SEN Teacher – SEND / Special Educational Needs
Are you a qualified teacher with experience working with children or young people with SEND, SEN, SEMH or complex additional needs?
Pink Tile Education are looking for a passionate SEN Teacher / SEND Teacher to join a specialist educational setting in West Sussex.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher, or a teacher with a strong interest in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), to make a genuine difference to pupils who require a more personalised and nurturing approach to education.
The setting supports pupils with a range of needs, which may include Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and other complex or additional learning needs.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, differentiated teaching, adapting lessons to meet individual needs and creating a safe, structured and engaging classroom environment.
The successful SEN Teacher will be passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and independence, and achieve their academic and personal potential.
The Role
As an SEN Teacher / SEND Teacher, you will:

Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons.

Adapt teaching, resources and activities to meet individual SEND needs.

Teach pupils across KS1 and/or KS2.

Set high but achievable expectations for all pupils.

Support pupils with SEND, Autism, ADHD, SEMH and complex learning needs.

Use a range of teaching strategies to maintain engagement and motivation.

Support pupils with literacy, numeracy and wider personal development.

Monitor, assess and record pupil progress and attainment.

Use assessment information to inform planning and identify areas for development.

Develop appropriate intervention strategies to support pupil progress.

Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.

Establish clear boundaries and promote positive behaviour.

Support pupils who may display challenging behaviour.

Work closely with Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) and other education professionals.

Liaise with the SENCO, parents/carers and external professionals where appropriate.

Contribute to pupil reports, meetings and wider school improvement.

Support pupils to develop confidence, independence and a positive attitude towards education.

What We Are Looking For
We are keen to hear from candidates who have:

QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

Successful teaching experience within KS1 and/or KS2.

Experience working with SEND pupils.

Experience supporting pupils with complex or additional learning needs.

A strong understanding of SEND and individual learning needs.

Experience or understanding of Autism, ADHD and/or SEMH.

Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.

The ability to differentiate teaching effectively.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The ability to build strong relationships with pupils and colleagues.

A calm, patient, resilient and consistent approach.

The ability to remain calm when managing challenging behaviour.

A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

A willingness to continue developing professionally through CPD.

Experience with behaviour management, phonics and additional SEND-related training would be advantageous.
