Groundsperson

We are excited to be advertising for a Groundsperson to join our Site Team. This is a permanent, all year round position (with annual leave entitlement), working 32.5 hours per week. The working days and hours will be agreed with the successful candidate.

The Site Team is led by the Site Manager, and includes a range of staff including this newly created role of Groundsperson. The team is full of different personalities, making it an enjoyable environment to work in.

The grounds at Torquay Girls’ Grammar School are comprised of green spaces, sports fields including tennis courts, an astro pitch and courtyard gardens. The site has a wide variety of deciduous broadleaf trees, hedges and multiple car parks and pathways. This school has some exciting new landscaping projects planned. These will provide a tranquil environment for fresh air, relaxation and study. Other projects will look at increasing the biodiversity of the school grounds, such as the creation of a new wildflower meadow, tree planting and building a wildlife pond for pond dipping.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for the outdoors to ensure our grounds are the best that they can be all year round. The successful candidate will also get involved with wider tasks and projects, including at times when the weather doesn’t allow for outdoors work.
