The purpose of this role is to provide efficient and timely administrative and technical support to the Underwriting team, ensuring exceptional customer service and resolution of enquiries from Brokers/partners. The role involves assisting underwriters with policy administration, underwriting new business and renewals within set guidelines and service standards, and contributing to the achievement of business objectives.

The Opportunity  

We are currently looking for an Underwriting Assistant role to join our Property team based in our London office with hybrid working. 

As an Underwriting Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing technical and administrative support to our underwriting team. Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate underwriting data, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the underwriting process.

Your New Role 

  • Policy administration: Support the lifecycle of policies from new business, Mid Term Adjustments (MTAs), and renewals through to their cancellation or lapse, including managing credit control activities, liaising with GSSC colleagues and ensuring timely closings are received within 30 days of inception.

  • Build knowledge: Develop and maintain knowledge of systems, processes, QBE guidelines/policies and industry/regulatory codes.

  • Stakeholder management: Build strong working relationships within Underwriting and Operations. Participate as required in internal and external meetings.

  • Process improvement & change: Assist in identifying and implementing 'best practice' and process improvements and contribute to change initiatives and projects as required.

  • Adhoc support: Assist the Operations and Underwriting teams with adhoc requests around reporting, underwriting, governance etc.

About You 

  • Some previous work experience ideally in a corporate environment

  • Ability to evidence dealing with complex data and Excel

  • Evidence of using AI in an academic or work environment

  • A good level of numeracy and literacy

  • Organisational and prioritisation skills

  • Team player with the ability to work collaboratively and develop successful working relationships
