IntroductionAcorn by Synergie is currently recruiting for an experienced and motivated Production Team Leader to join a successful manufacturing operation based in Ilminster, Somerset.

Reporting to the Production Manager and working closely with the Shift Manager, you will be responsible for the effective day-to-day running of production operations.
You will lead and develop a team of Machine Operators and Production Operatives, ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of Health & Safety, quality, efficiency, GMP and team performance.
You will play a key role in coordinating production, resolving operational issues and identifying opportunities to improve overall performance.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & Operations
- Ensure production lines operate safely and efficiently to achieve production plans, KPIs and customer requirements.
- Agree daily production plans, priorities and running orders with the Shift Manager and communicate these effectively to the team.
- Ensure production lines are correctly set up, appropriately staffed and ready to operate at the start of each shift.
- Monitor production throughout the shift and adjust labour, priorities and resources where required.
- Work closely with QA to ensure products meet customer specifications, quality and legal requirements.
- Investigate and resolve quality issues and non-conformances.
- Support Engineering with basic PPM and operational problem solving, within the appropriate level of training.
- Maintain high standards of GMP, hygiene, housekeeping and HACCP compliance.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve OEE, efficiency, waste and overall production performance.
People Leadership
- Lead, motivate and support Machine Operators and Production Operatives to achieve required standards and targets.
- Ensure employees follow company procedures, work instructions and Health & Safety requirements.
- Conduct regular team briefings covering production, performance, quality, safety, training and business updates.
- Support employee training and development and identify training requirements with the Shift Manager.
- Conduct annual appraisals and support the management of attendance, holidays, return-to-work interviews and employee issues.
- Promote teamwork, communication, accountability and a continuous improvement culture across the department.
Health & Safety
- Ensure Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices are followed at all times.
- Identify, address and report unsafe conditions or behaviours.
- Actively support site Health & Safety initiatives, including risk assessments and Let's Sort It.
Shift B - 12-hour rotating 4-on / 3-on pattern:
- Week 1: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 6:30am-6:30pm.
- Week 2: Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 6:30am-6:30pm.
You will ideally have experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment, with previous experience leading or supervising a production team.
