Job title: Science Technician   

Contract type: Permanent 

Hours: 37 per week 

Working week: Term time + INSET 

Salary: PATH 4. £26,429 FTE. £22,732 prorated

About the role 

Working under the direction of the Senior Science Technician you will provide technical and administrative support to the teaching staff.

Main duties and responsibilities include:

  • Maintain adequate supplies of materials across the department and assist with the ordering of supplies.
  • Perform routine cleaning, day-to-day maintenance and direct functional checks on equipment to ensure it is ready for use
  • Store all apparatus safely and securely.
  • Adhere strictly to Health and Safety regulations, including COSHH procedures for the safe handling, treatment and disposal of hazardous substances and used materials.
  • Complete basic record-keeping, administrative duties and assist teachers in setting up or delivering practical learning activities.
  • Promote and maintain the safety, welfare and safeguarding of all students in line with school and pathway trust policies.

We are looking for someone with a good standard of general education who wants to join a friendly, collaborative team. You will:

  • Possess a basic understanding of laboratory materials, equipment and safety guidelines, including COSHH standards.
  • Be capable of executing detailed instructions accurate to specifications under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Manage tasks efficiently with a practical, solution-focused approach.
  • Build clear, positive working relationships with pupils, departmental peers, and colleagues across the trust.
  • Act as a positive role model for students while complying with all trust and school policies.
  • Be willing to engage in ongoing personal and professional development.
