OR114518 – Private Sector Housing Team Leader – Housing

Work Pattern: Hybrid – office attendance as and when required, 37 hours per week

PAYE Pay Rate: £28.00 per hour

Main Purpose of the Role

To lead and support the Private Sector Housing team in improving housing conditions across Central Bedfordshire. The role will manage staff, oversee complex cases, provide expert technical advice and ensure effective use of statutory housing powers and Housing Assistance programmed.

Typical Day

• Manage and support EHOs and Technical Officers.

• Review workloads, complex cases and enforcement actions.

• Attend property inspections and provide technical support.

• Advise officers on HMOs, housing conditions and enforcement.

• Review prosecution files, tribunal cases and financial penalty notices.

• Deal with landlords, tenants and other customers.

• Support Housing Assistance and housing improvement programmed.

• Work with colleagues and external partners to resolve complex housing issues.

• Contribute to service improvements and staff development.

Key Skills & Responsibilities

• Strong knowledge of Private Sector Housing and relevant legislation.

• Experience dealing with complex housing cases and HMOs.

• Experience of enforcement, notices, evidence and prosecution work.

• Ability to lead, manage and support staff.

• Strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to make sound, evidence-based decisions.

• Good organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.

• Customer-focused and professional approach.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements

• Relevant Environmental Health qualification or equivalent professional qualification.

• Relevant professional experience in Private Sector Housing or Environmental Health.

• Experience of housing enforcement and complex casework.

• Knowledge
