We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our supportive and ambitious team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering learning, supporting pupils across the school, and helping create an engaging and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.
Hours: 24 hours per week Monday to Friday term time only including 24 inset hours per academic year
Interview date: 2 October 2026
Start date: 2 November 2026
Contract: fixed term until 31 August 2027, protentional to be extended subject to funding
About the role
- Deliver learning activities to individuals, small groups and whole classes under the guidance of teaching staff.
- Supervise classes during teacher absence and support continuity of learning.
- Work closely with teachers to plan, adapt and deliver learning interventions.
- Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to assessment processes.
- Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, independence and inclusion.
- Work collaboratively with school staff, parents and external agencies to achieve the best outcomes for pupils.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school and support our positive school culture.
About You
- Has a minimum of four years' experience working within a school environment.
- Holds a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent qualification in education or child development.
- Has strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices.
- Can confidently lead learning activities and support whole-class teaching.
- Has experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs.
- Possesses excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
- Is proactive, adaptable and able to use their initiative effectively.
- Is committed to raising achievement and ensuring every child reaches their potential.
The following would be advantageous:
- HLTA status, a Foundation Degree, or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience leading targeted intervention programmes.
- Paediatric First Aid qualification.
- Expertise in a particular curriculum area or pastoral provision.
