About the role
Jackson Hogg is supporting a growing engineering business in Sunderland to recruit an experienced Electrical Technician to join a small and close knit manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on bespoke machinery in a varied and hands on role offering long term stability and regular overtime.
The Role
You will be responsible for the electrical build installation and maintenance of specialist machinery and vehicles. This will include working on new machine builds as well as maintaining a existing fleets. You will work closely with mechanical colleagues and the wider engineering team to ensure equipment remains safe compliant and reliable.
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical assembly and wiring of bespoke machinery
- Installation and integration of electrical systems onto HGV based vehicles
- New machine builds upgrades and refurbishment work
- Planned and reactive electrical maintenance
- Fault finding diagnosis repair and testing of electrical components and systems
- Working with control panels sensors looms motors and lighting circuits
- Supporting breakdown response and liaising with colleagues and customers
- General factory maintenance and housekeeping duties
- Completing maintenance and repair documentation accurately
- Supporting and training new team members when required
- Undertaking additional duties to support the wider business as needed
- Recognised electrical qualification or strong relevant industry experience
- Experience working in a manufacturing or mobile plant environment
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings schematics and wiring diagrams
- Logical and methodical approach to electrical fault finding
- Competent using electrical tools test equipment and safe isolation procedures
- Understanding of electrical health and safety standards and best practice
- Strong communication skills with a flexible and proactive attitude
- Full UK driving licence is required
- Basic IT skills including Microsoft Office
- Automotive or HGV electrical systems
- Control panels relays inverters and PLC interfaces
- Sensors instrumentation and fault diagnostics
- Experience working alongside mechanical and hydraulic systems
Hours and Benefits
- Full time permanent position
- Based in Sunderland
- Forty hour working week - Monday to Friday
