About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic music teacher to work on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons (classroom music lessons across the school plus running our choir and orchestra). Key responsibilities

Teach high-quality, engaging music lessons across relevant year groups on Tuesdays and Thursdays (planning available)

Develop pupils’ musical skills in composing, performing, listening and singing, building on prior learning.

Lead and grow the school choir and orchestra, including weekly rehearsals and termly performances for the school and community.

Prepare pupils for concerts, church services and local events, ensuring high standards of behaviour and presentation.

Work with subject leaders to align lessons with the school’s curriculum intent and to support progression and assessment in music.

Maintain and organise musical resources and instruments.

Support inclusive practice so all pupils, including those with SEND and pupil premium, can participate and make progress.

Liaise with staff and parents about musical activities and pupil progress.

We are looking for someone who

Has experience teaching music in primary settings or equivalent.

Can lead singing confidently and direct small ensembles (choir/orchestra).

Plays at least one instrument to a good standard and can support basic instrumental tuition.

Builds strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff and models our Christian values.

Is organised, reliable and committed to safeguarding children.

Has a willingness to work collaboratively with the subject leader and participate in after-school or community events as required.

Desirable

Experience of running extra‑curricular ensembles and preparing pupils for performances.

Basic musical notation and classroom keyboard/guitar skills.
