Session Leader - Branch Out

Short Breaks are looking for a session leader to plan and coordinate three after-school club sessions per week during term time and support holiday playscheme sessions for young people aged 5-18 at Springfield School.

Short Breaks is a social care-funded provision that provides after-school and holiday clubs for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, and those unable to access mainstream provision.

About the Role

Some Key Responsibilities include:

• Plan and coordinate three after-school club sessions per week during term time for young people aged 5-18.
• Lead two-holiday sessions per week during school holidays.
  
• Provide opportunities for young people to access the local community and facilitate inclusion.
• Lead a staffing team during sessions, maintaining a dynamic and flexible attitude and leading by example.
• To meet the individual needs of all the children attending and to help provide a warm, safe and caring environment.
• To be a role model for our children and young people, and colleague.
• To provide and encourage safe, creative, and appropriate play opportunities for various play needs.

About You

• Have a Level 2 Safeguarding or above.
• A positive advocate for children and young people.
• Ability to relate well to children and adults.
• Exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills.
• A commitment to the provision of high- quality inclusive childcare.
• Creativity to devise new ideas and engage service users in activities.
• Excellent communication skills with service users, colleagues, and parent/carers.
• Patience, punctuality, reliability, and trustworthiness.
• Positive approach to inclusive practice with service users, their families, and the staffing team.
• Respect for service users’ social, cultural, linguistic, religious, and ethnic backgrounds.
