We are currently recruiting Aircraft Fitters to join a specialist aircraft maintenance operation in Cambridge, working on large transport aircraft within a highly skilled engineering environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced aircraft maintenance professionals looking for a long-term contract, with the initial requirement running through to March 2027

The Role
As an Aircraft Fitter, you will carry out maintenance, modifications and repairs to aircraft structures and mechanical systems, working from approved technical documentation, work cards and manufacturer instructions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out aircraft maintenance and modification tasks
- Removing and installing aircraft components, parts and panels
- Working within fuel tanks and other confined spaces where required
- Carrying out structural repairs to aircraft, components and parts
- Refitting and replacing defective components using hand and power tools
- Assisting with aircraft movement, jacking and trestling
- Supporting testing of aircraft parts using gauges and other equipment
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications and maintenance manuals
- Completing work cards, aircraft records and associated documentation
- Working to high standards of workmanship, safety and airworthiness
- Supporting continuous improvement activities within the maintenance operation
What We’re Looking For
We’re interested in hearing from experienced Aircraft Fitters / Aircraft Maintenance Technicians with a strong hands-on background.
You’ll need:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification
- Previous experience within aircraft maintenance
- Experience working on large transport aircraft
- Strong mechanical and/or structural aircraft fitting experience
- Ability to read and interpret aircraft technical documentation, drawings and maintenance manuals
- Good engineering hand skills
- Experience working within an airworthiness-controlled environment
- A recognised A&P qualification or military equivalent
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
C-130 Experience – Highly Desirable
C-130 experience is advantageous and we’d particularly like to hear from candidates who have worked on C-130 or other large transport aircraft.
Relevant experience could include:
- Aircraft maintenance checks
- Engine changes
- Landing gear / gear changes
- Structural repairs
- Flight control rigging
- Component maintenance
- Large transport aircraft maintenance
