About the role

Site Manager – Commercial Fit Out

Location: Swindon
Permanent Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm

Commercial Office Fit Out

Are you an experienced Site Manager with a strong background in commercial office fit out looking to join a well-established, family-run business where quality really matters?

We’re working with a long-standing Construction business that specialise in high-quality commercial and office fit out, who are celebrating 40 years in business this year. They pride themselves on delivering excellent workmanship and outstanding customer service - with many of their clients returning time and time again.

They are now looking for a committed and detail-focused Site Manager to join their Projects team and play a key role in delivering their projects across the Swindon area.

The Role

As Site Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day running of commercial fit-out projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and to an exceptionally high standard.

Projects range in value up to approximately £3 million, covering a variety of office and commercial environments, including Cat A, Cat B and high-end fit outs.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll be trusted to use your own initiative, make decisions on site and take real ownership of the projects you manage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the day-to-day delivery of commercial office fit-out projects
  • Coordinating and managing subcontractors on site
  • Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality standards
  • Maintaining a strong focus on health & safety throughout the project
  • Reviewing subcontractor RAMS and ensuring works are carried out in accordance with them
  • Preparing Construction Phase Plans and RAMS
  • Completing Daily Site Reports and maintaining accurate project records
  • Liaising confidently and professionally with clients when required
  • Identifying and resolving issues proactively
  • Working closely with the wider Projects team to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Maintaining high standards of workmanship, presentation and customer service
  • Taking ownership of site and ensuring every aspect of the project is delivered to the expected standard

About You

We’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about the quality of the work they deliver and takes pride in their role.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager within office/commercial fit out
  • Experience delivering Cat A and Cat B fit outs
  • Experience on high-end commercial projects
  • Experience managing projects up to around £1.5m
  • Strong subcontractor management experience
  • Good knowledge and understanding of health & safety
  • The confidence to communicate with clients professionally
  • The ability to be assertive when required while remaining a strong team player
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • The ability to work independently and use your own initiative
  • A trustworthy and reliable approach to your work

Previous trade experience, such as carpentry, drylining or another construction trade, would be a bonus but is not essential.

Experience with Construction Phase Plans, RAMS, Daily Site Reports and reviewing subcontractor RAMS would also be highly advantageous. Full training will be provided on the company's systems and templates.

IT & Systems

You’ll need to be comfortable using a laptop and have experience with:

  • Microsoft Outlook
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Learning and using new software applications

The company currently uses HandsHQ for CPPs and RAMS and Work Wallet for subcontractor RAMS, Daily Site Reports, accident reporting and other site management processes. Training will be provided.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • SMSTS
  • Site Manager CSCS card
  • First Aid at Work – 3-day
  • Fire Marshal
  • Manual Handling
  • Asbestos Awareness

Desirable:

  • IPAF
  • PASMA

What's on Offer?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful, established and genuinely family-run business where you won’t simply be another number.

The company has been operating for 40 years, with a strong reputation for quality, customer service and repeat business. You’ll become part of a close-knit team where everyone is focused on delivering the best possible result for the client.

Benefits include:

  • Permanent position
  • Pension scheme
  • Healthcare scheme
  • 32 days annual leave
  • Company van for use during working hours
  • Fuel costs covered by the company
  • Weekend working is rare, but where required you’ll receive overtime pay or time off in lieu
  • Accommodation paid for when working away
  • Expense allowance for subsistence when working away
  • Training provided on company systems and software

Location

The company's base is in Swindon, so candidates based in Swindon, Bristol or the surrounding areas would be ideally located.

If you're an experienced Commercial Fit Out Site Manager who takes pride in delivering high-quality projects and wants to join a business with a 40-year track record and a strong pipeline of repeat work, this could be an excellent next step.
