Class 1 HGV Driver – Store Deliveries – Severn Beach

People Solutions are currently recruiting for a Class 1 HGV Driver to join our well-established client based in Severn Beach.

This is an excellent opportunity for a professional and reliable HGV Driver seeking regular work, competitive pay rates, and flexible weekly planning within a busy 24-hour transport operation.

This would suit applicants who have worked as a Class 1 Driver, Category CE Driver or an Articulated Lorry Driver.

Rates of Pay:

• £19.00 per hour

Shift Pattern:

• Various start times available
• Early starts from approximately 01:00 to 09:00
• Later runs also available
• Shifts are generally 9 to 11 hours
• Weekly planning based around your availability
• 24/7 operation
• Temporary, ongoing and temp-to-perm opportunities available

Day-to-Day Duties:

Your duties as a Class 1 HGV Driver are:

• Completing Class 1 store deliveries to retail locations
• Delivering ambient and chilled products
• Completing 1 to 2 store deliveries per shift
• Using tail lift equipment, including slide and tilt systems
• Using electric and manual pump trucks
• Conducting front-of-store palletised deliveries
• Occasionally carrying out trunking work and trailer swaps between distribution centres
• Completing all vehicle checks and paperwork accurately
• Delivering goods safely and professionally whilst maintaining excellent customer service standards
• Ensuring all deliveries are completed within planned schedules

Essential Skills:

To be successful as a Class 1 HGV Driver, you will need:

• A valid UK Category C+E Driving Licence
• Ideally a minimum of twelve months’ Class 1 driving experience
• Previous store delivery experience is preferred
• Experience using a tail lift
• Confidence using electric and manual pump trucks
• A maximum of six penalty points on your licence
• No DR, IN10 or CD endorsements
• A good understanding of safe working practices
• A reliable and professional approach to work

Drivers with approximately six months’ Class 1 experience may also be considered where previous store delivery experience can be demonstrated and Digi Card records show suitable driving experience.

Training:

• Successful candidates will complete a one-hour driver induction before commencing work
• No driving assessment is required
