Morson are currently recruiting for a Project Manager to deliver in-service support projects in the Military Aerospace industry. Based with our client in Bournemouth you would be accountable for the end-to-end project management of significant aircraft base maintenance. You would lead teams to deliver the approved maintenance work package to agreed scope, turnaround time, cost and quality and while maintaining safety, airworthiness, regulatory compliance and customer confidence. We require a Project Manager with experience delivering engineering projects using Microsoft Project  to develop, resource and control integrated maintenance schedules.

The role is being offered on a 6-month contract basis. It will be based fulltime onsite in Bournemouth initially, moving to hybrid remote after the initial few weeks. We’re looking to pay £65 per hour Umbrella inside IR35 but are open to negotiation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead engineering projects from initiation through delivery, transition and closure.
• Define and control project scope, objectives, requirements, deliverables, acceptance criteria and benefits.
• Establish proportionate governance, decision forums, reporting routines and assurance activities.
• Develop, baseline and maintain an integrated aircraft base-maintenance schedule in Microsoft Project, incorporating the work breakdown structure, task logic, milestones, access and inspection sequences, resource demand, material and tooling dependencies, customer decision points, test activity and return-to-service requirements.
• Own performance against the agreed base-maintenance scope, turnaround time, cost, quality, technical and safety baselines; identify variance early and drive recovery actions.
• Use Microsoft Project to produce reliable schedule updates and recovery scenarios.
• Coordinate work-package readiness before aircraft input, confirming approved task cards, engineering instructions, manpower, hangar capacity, tooling, materials, components, technical data and external support.
• Control the maintenance input through aircraft induction, access, inspection, rectification, modification, reassembly, functional test, records completion, release and return to service.
• Manage risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies and opportunities.
• Maintain accurate project records, daily progress data, forecasts, decisions and performance information in approved maintenance, business and project-control systems.
• Lead project reviews and cross-functional meetings, resolving conflicts.
• Monitor supplier and subcontractor performance.

Requirements

• FAA-certified Part 145 experience is desirable but not essential.
• Proven experience project managing significant aircraft inputs, heavy checks, major modifications or comparable complex MRO activity.
• Advanced capability in Microsoft Project, including creation and maintenance of logic-linked schedules, baselines, dependencies, resources, progress updates, critical-path analysis, variance reporting and recovery planning.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary maintenance, engineering, planning, quality, supply-chain and support teams in a live aircraft-input environment.
• Relevant aircraft maintenance, engineering or technical qualification, or equivalent substantial aviation experience.
• Recognised project management qualification such as APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner or PMP, or willingness to attain one.
• Working knowledge of applicable UK CAA, UK MAA or EASA maintenance regulations, Safety Management Systems and quality-management principles.
• Commercial awareness and experience of estimates, budgets, quotations, additional-work approval, procurement or contract management.
• Analytical and commercially aware, with the ability to use performance data to make timely decisions.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Project and competent in Microsoft Office, maintenance information systems and project-control tools.
