About the role

Location: Lozells

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a supportive Teaching Assistant to start immediately. This Teaching Assistant position will involve working with children and young people aged 3 to 19 who have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). Many pupils also have speech, language and communication needs, sensory processing differences, and complex physical or developmental needs, requiring highly individualised support throughout the school day.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with autism, severe learning difficulties, and profound and multiple learning difficulties.
  • Help implement individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and personalised learning programmes.
  • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet a wide range of complex learning needs.
  • Support pupils with communication using a total communication approach, including visual supports and specialist strategies.
  • Assist with personal care, feeding, mobility, and physical support where required.
  • Encourage independence, engagement, and participation in both learning and life-skills activities.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, families, and other professionals to deliver consistent and effective support.

This Teaching Assistant role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with complex needs to develop communication skills, independence, and confidence while achieving their individual goals.

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND, autism, SLD, PMLD, or complex learning needs.
