We are looking for a Learning Support Mentor to join a supportive school in the Bromley area. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys building positive relationships with pupils and is confident supporting children with SEND, SEMH, autism, ADHD and challenging behaviour.
About the Role
As a Learning Support Mentor, you will provide individualised support to pupils who may experience barriers to learning, emotional regulation, communication, social interaction or behaviour.
You will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the SENCO to help pupils feel supported, confident and ready to engage with school.
The role may involve supporting children with:
Autism / ASC
ADHD
SEMH needs
Challenging or dysregulated behaviour
Emotional and behavioural difficulties
Communication and interaction needs
Speech and language difficulties
Learning difficulties
Social and emotional needs
Complex SEND
You will play an important role in helping pupils develop confidence, resilience, independence and positive relationships, while encouraging them to engage with their education.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring and learning support.
Build strong, positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
Encourage children to engage positively with their learning and school life.
Support pupils with emotional regulation and behavioural challenges.
Help children develop appropriate coping strategies.
Encourage confidence, independence and self-esteem.
Support pupils both within the classroom and across the wider school environment.
Work alongside teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff to meet individual needs.
Follow individual learning, behaviour and support plans.
Promote positive behaviour and healthy social interactions.
Remain calm, consistent and supportive when dealing with challenging situations.
Act as a positive role model and advocate for the pupils you support.
About You
We are looking for someone who is patient, empathetic, resilient, approachable and enthusiastic about working with children who may require additional support.
Previous experience working with SEND, SEMH, autism, ADHD or challenging behaviour is desirable. Experience in education, youth work, mentoring, childcare, residential care, support work, sports coaching or a similar environment would also be beneficial.
You may already be an experienced Learning Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Support Worker, Youth Worker or Learning Support Assistant, or you may be looking to develop a career working with children and young people.
Most importantly, you will have the ability to build meaningful relationships, remain calm under pressure and see the individual behind the behaviour.

Pay & Holiday Pay
The pay stated is inclusive of the additional 12.07% PAYE holiday pay.
