You will design secure, scalable solutions that address complex business challenges across high-profile public-sector programmes.Working closely with clients, delivery teams and senior stakeholders, you will translate functional and non-functional requirements into clear solution designs. You will also establish architectural roadmaps, provide technical leadership and ensure delivered solutions comply with agreed standards and principles.This role is suited to an experienced architect with a strong understanding of cloud technologies, open standards, integration and modern software-delivery practices.Key responsibilitiesYou will:Design innovative technical solutions that address business, functional and non-functional requirementsDefine architectural roadmaps for systems and business servicesTranslate complex requirements into clear, practical solution designsDocument solutions using recognised modelling standards, including ArchiMate, UML and BPMNDefine architectural standards, principles and delivery guidelinesAdvise stakeholders on technical options, risks and trade-offsProvide design and technical leadership to development teamsReview deliverables to ensure quality, completeness and architectural complianceSupport solutions throughout the delivery lifecycleContribute to thought leadership, practice development and new service offeringsEssential experienceYou should demonstrate:Previous experience working as a Solution Architect or in a closely related architecture roleStrong knowledge of cloud technologies, open-source technologies and open standardsA sound understanding of architectural concepts, methodologies and frameworksExperience applying design patterns and architectural patternsKnowledge of systems integration techniques and technologiesExperience addressing non-functional requirements such as security, performance, resilience, availability and scalabilityPractical experience using modelling notations such as ArchiMate, UML or BPMNExperience leading or providing technical direction to software-development teamsStrong quality-assurance skills, with the ability to assess technical deliverablesExperience working within both agile and traditional delivery environmentsStrong communication and stakeholder-management skillsLocation and travelThe role is based in Bristol or the wider South West. You must be comfortable travelling occasionally to Cheltenham and, on an ad hoc basis, other client sites throughout the UK.Security clearanceAny offer will be subject to satisfactory BPSS and SC+ security clearance.Applicants must declare that they hold a British passport and do not hold dual nationality.
