About the role

BMS Pre-Commissioning Engineer – London - £50,000

An opportunity is available for an experienced BMS Pre-Commissioning Engineer to support the delivery of Building Management System projects across London and surrounding areas. This role will focus on pre-commissioning activities, panel checks, point-to-point testing, wiring verification, software readiness checks and supporting commissioning engineers to ensure projects are prepared for successful handover.

The position would suit a technically capable BMS engineer with strong site experience, good attention to detail and a clear understanding of BMS controls, field devices, control panels and associated mechanical and electrical systems. Experience with Trend, Tridium or similar BMS platforms would be highly advantageous.

 

Package and Benefits
  • Salary of £45,000 – £50,000 depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out BMS pre-commissioning activities across live project sites.
    • Complete panel inspections, wiring checks, point-to-point testing and field device verification.
    • Check controller installations, network connections, containment, cabling and associated control equipment.
    • Support commissioning engineers by ensuring systems are ready for software loading, functional testing and client demonstrations.
    • Identify, record and report installation issues, defects or incomplete works to the relevant project team.
    • Review drawings, schematics, points schedules and control panel documentation to support accurate site testing.
    • Work closely with electrical contractors, mechanical contractors, project managers and site teams.
    • Maintain accurate test records, progress updates and commissioning documentation.
    • Ensure all work is completed safely, professionally and in line with project requirements.
 

Experience Required
  • Previous experience within BMS, controls, electrical commissioning or building services environments.
    • Strong understanding of BMS control panels, field wiring, sensors, valves, dampers, actuators and plant interfaces.
    • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, panel drawings, schematics and points schedules.
    • Experience with Trend, Tridium, Siemens, Schneider, Cylon, Distech or similar BMS platforms would be beneficial.
    • Good knowledge of HVAC plant, mechanical services and electrical controls.
    • CSCS or ECS card preferred.
    • Strong attention to detail, clear communication skills and a proactive approach to site problem-solving.
    • Full UK driving licence preferred due to project-based travel.
