We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is committed to a career in computing to join our ICT Team.

Day to day tasks include:

  • Providing first line technical support answering support queries via phone and email
  • Maintaining a high degree of customer service support
  • Taking ownership of user problems and be proactive in dealing with user issues
  • Logging all calls on the Councils helpdesk system
  • Escalating more complex calls to relevant IT Support Engineers
  • Acquiring and maintaining knowledge of relevant products and support issues to provide technically accurate solutions to users

The ideal candidate will have a formal qualification in Computing or equivalent, be studying for a degree in Computing or have completed an appropriate apprenticeship. You will have knowledge of PC hardware, software maintenance and MS Windows. Experience of first line support is desirable but not essential.

This is a 37 hour full time, flexible position being a career graded post to encourage career development with an annual salary of £27,652 to £31,418.00 per annum, as per the details in the attached role profile.

  • You will be required to provide a suitable vehicle for this post
  • This job includes duties that may require an element of physical exertion and mobility on an occasional or frequent basis
  • Flexible approach to working hours, able to work outside normal office hours if necessary, including a requirement to be available for evening meetings.
  • Appointment to this post is subject to satisfactory clearance of a basic disclosure check (Disclosure & Barring Services (DBS) under the Police Act 1997.
  • Appointment is usually at the bottom of the salary band with annual increments until the top of the scale is reached. This is a career graded post to encourage career development.
