Barnsley Council is seeking highly motivated individuals who possess good technical and communication skills with significant experience gained in the residential sector to join our team of experienced valuation surveyors.
You will be responsible for supporting the Councils Strategic Housing New Build and Acquisition programme working within the Housing Revenue Account (HRA) portfolio to acquire residential to increase the Council house affordable stock and support the development of new build properties on Council owned land through direct build and joint venture opportunities.
The role will involve conducting inspections, producing valuations and undertaking negotiations, agreeing sale terms for individual/bulk residential properties. You will also provide strategic residential property advice undertaking site due diligence, preparing terms for site sale/development and complete/review residual development appraisals to assess land value, marketing and negotiate terms through to sale/completion.
You will need to demonstrate the ability to provide structured professional advice related to the Councils New Build and Acquisitions programme, as well as experience of working with development partners to de-risk sites and have an understanding of the residential market.
You will also support the management of the Council’s land and property portfolio, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations. Additionally, you will contribute to the Councils Asset Management Plan and support the delivery of the Medium-Term Financial Plan targets.
