About the role
Role: Community Liaison Officer (Part-time)
Contract Duration: ASAP to 30th November 2027 (Ongoing)
Locations (1 per site): Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire (Lower Waldridge Farm) Willand, Devon (Dean Hill Road) Pilton, Rutland (Luffenham Lane)
Reports To: Societal Lead
Requirements: Full UK driving licence & personal vehicle (essential due to rural sites)
The Role
As a Community Liaison Officer (CLO), you will be the vital link between our major solar project developments and the local communities hosting them.
Working on the ground during the crucial build phase, you will foster transparent relationships built on trust, represent community interests, and ensure local construction delivers long-term, sustainable value without compromising local livelihoods or the environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Stakeholder Engagement: Map local community dynamics and build ongoing relationships with residents, local leaders, and community groups.
- Transparent Communication: Deliver timely project updates via face-to-face dialogues, local media, print, and social platforms.
- Community Meetings: Coordinate public meetings, prepare info packs, log feedback, and present project milestones.
- Grievance Resolution: Manage the community grievance process—recording feedback, resolving disputes swiftly, and advocating for fair outcomes.
- Insight & Reporting: Track community sentiment, report against KPIs, and highlight emerging issues to project leadership.
What You Bring
Proven Expertise: Background in Community Relations, Public Affairs, or Stakeholder Management.
Strong Interpersonal Skills: High empathy, active listening, and strong written/verbal communication skills.
Conflict Resolution: Solid negotiation and mediation skills to resolve local concerns calmly under pressure.
Self-Starter Mindset: Ability to work autonomously across rural site environments with minimal direct supervision.
Mobility: Full UK driving licence and own car.
