About the role
Scheme Manager
Location: Broxbourne (Onsite Living)
Salary: £28,899 (37.5 hours)
Monday to Friday (suggested: 9am - 5:30pm)
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Scheme Manager is responsible for both the day-to-day management of the scheme and the maintenance and repair of the building, communal areas and gardens. The postholder will support residents aged 55+ to live independently, while ensuring the scheme is well maintained, safe and aesthetically appealing. A key part of the role includes regular maintenance of the communal gardens.
Please Note, this is a live in position as the postholder is required to live onsite.
What you will be doing
- Supporting residents’ wellbeing through regular contact and day-to-day oversight, including daily welfare checks.
- Responding to emergency calls and coordinating support when needed
- Encouraging social activities and building a strong inclusive community spirit
- Liaising with families, GPs and external agencies to support residents
- Overseeing communal areas and working with contractors to maintain high standards
- Carrying out health & safety checks and ensuring compliance
Gardening & Grounds Maintenance
- Maintain gardens, lawns and planted areas
- Carry out planting, including seasonal bedding
- Weeding, pruning, hedge cutting and lawn care
- Maintain and clear paths and communal outdoor areas
- Use weed control safely
- Maintain tools and equipment
- Improve outdoor spaces
- Keep outdoor areas safe and presentable
Maintenance & Repairs
- Carry out minor repairs and maintenance
- Change lightbulbs, fuses and batteries
- Report repairs and to liaise with the Repairs Team and contractors.

- Experience of working with older customers
- Calm and confident in emergencies
- Compassionate, approachable and able to build strong relationships
- Organised and able to work independently
- Strong collaborative skills
