Humly are recruiting for a SEN Learning Support Assistant to support a primary school in Ashton, Preston from November 2026. This full-time role will involve supporting the school's SEN provision as maternity cover, helping pupils with additional needs access learning, follow routines and feel safe, supported and understood throughout the school day.

This SEN Learning Support Assistant maternity cover role would suit an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or education professional who is patient, nurturing and reliable. You will work as part of the school's SEN team, providing consistent support and helping pupils make positive progress in their learning and development.

What You'll Be Doing

• Supporting pupils with additional needs across the school day

• Providing 1:1 and small group support where required

• Helping pupils access classroom learning and activities

• Supporting pupils with daily routines and transitions

• Encouraging communication, confidence and independence

• Providing calm, consistent and nurturing support

• Helping pupils feel safe, supported and understood

• Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils

• Supporting positive engagement and behaviour

• Working closely with the SEN team, class teachers and wider school staff

• Helping create a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment

You'll Be a Good Fit If You...

• Have previous experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant, LSA or similar education role

• Have experience supporting children with additional needs

• Have experience working in a primary school setting

• Are patient, caring and nurturing

• Are confident providing 1:1 and small group support

• Can build positive relationships with pupils

• Understand the importance of calm and consistent support

• Are reliable and committed to supporting pupils throughout the school day

• Can work effectively as part of an SEN team

• Are adaptable and confident working alongside teachers and support staff

• Are available to start from November 2026
