About the role
Job Title: Excavator Operator
Location: Isle of Yell, Shetland
Duration: Approximately 1 year remaining
Working Hours: 12-hour shifts currently, reducing to 10-hour shifts from October through April
Rotation: 11 days on / 3 days off – flexibility available for the right operator
Pay Rate: TBC
Overview
Corrie Recruitment are looking for an experienced Excavator Operator to join a long-term civils project on the Isle of Yell, Shetland.
The project involves the construction of a dual carriageway for the local council, with approximately 12 months of work remaining.
The successful candidate will be allocated their own machine and will remain responsible for operating and looking after it throughout the duration of the project.
Key Responsibilities
The successful operator will be required to carry out a variety of civils and earthworks duties, including:
- Landscaping peat
- Reinstating turfs
- Digging tracks for utilities
- Grading rock
- Forming ditches
- General excavation and earthworks duties as required
Requirements
- Proven soft ground experience as an Excavator Operator
- CPCS or NPORS Excavator Operator ticket – essential
- Experience carrying out civils and earthworks operations
- Competent carrying out the duties listed above
- Strong awareness of site health and safety
- Ability to take responsibility for the care and operation of allocated plant
- Reliable and professional approach
Machine & Site Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be allocated a machine for the duration of the project.
The contractor takes great pride in maintaining its plant, with machines kept clean and well maintained. The operator will therefore be expected to take responsibility for the day-to-day care and condition of their allocated machine and report any issues promptly.
Working Pattern
- 12-hour shifts currently
- Hours reducing to 10 hours from October through April
- Standard rotation of 11 days on / 3 days off
- Rotation can be flexible for the right operator
- Long-term opportunity with approximately 1 year of work remaining
